The History of Delta Pi Chapter
Before we became Delta Pi chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, our founding members were a group of women called "Les Etudes". The women were initially unable to petition Sigma Alpha Iota because they lacked the numbers. The group assisted Phi Mu Alpha in several activities such as the Mid-South Jazz Festival and the annual marching competition. Their numbers increased to ninteen and they elected officers:
President: Charolette Dill
Vice President: Connie Eatherly
Secretary: Jeri Scafidi
Treasurer: Dianne Hansler
The group continued to meet until a letter arrived on March 29, 1965 informing them of the acceptance of their petition. Delta Pi's charter was officially granted on May 8, 1965.
Delta Pi chapter currently boasts 31 members and is an integral part of the APSU music department. The current chapter officers are:
President: Jill Austin
Vice President Membership: Rachel Camper
Vice President Ritual: Brandy-Sue Ayers
Treasurer: Nina Belew
Recording Secretary: Nicole Witt
